With the mission of "energy science and technological innovation to ensure national energy security and sustainable development", the Chinese Academy of Sciences accelerated the construction of an "1+x+n" open and integrated innovation organization system, formed a strong scientific and technological innovation "group army" in the energy field, and took the lead with reference to the national laboratory system and mechanism. In April, 2018, the Chinese Academy of Sciences approved the launch and implementation of the class a pilot project of "transformative clean energy key technologies and demonstration" relying on the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, with a total funding of 1.6 billion yuan. Through the breakthrough and demonstration of transformative key technologies, it will realize the integrated development of fossil energy, renewable energy and nuclear energy, provide technical support for the construction of China's clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, and create conditions for the National Laboratory of clean energy.
In 2021, according to the unified deployment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, after repeated discussion and refinement, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics determined the "14th five year plan" of the Institute. Among them, Mission positioning: "Implementing the requirements of 'two accelerations and one effort', focusing on ensuring national energy security and achieving the strategic goal of 'double carbon', our institute will continue to adhere to the strategic positioning led by energy research for sustainable development, take the national key laboratory as the platform, strengthen energy strategic research, adhere to the equal emphasis on basic research and applied research, and continue to provide Major innovative theories and technological achievements, meet national strategic needs, protect people's health, play an irreplaceable role, and take the lead in building a world-class research institute "; Four main research directions: "catalytic conversion and multi-energy integration of energy under the dual carbon strategy, research on the frontier of extreme ultraviolet light source technology and its chemical dynamics, efficient conversion of chemical energy represented by chemical lasers, and separation and measurement technologies and instruments for life and health"; Eight emerging cutting-edge directions and future technologies: "A new generation of high safety and high energy density water electrochemical energy storage technology, high temperature solid-state proton exchange membrane fuel cell technology, artificial photosynthetic nitrogen and carbon fixation to prepare urea, simultaneous power generation and carbon fixation in solid-state zinc ion conduction membrane reactor, high-resolution secondary electron ion confocal imaging mass spectrometry technology, high-voltage lithium battery technology, artificial intelligence and digital twins of typical catalytic reaction processes, molecular panoramic space-time super-resolution four-dimensional imaging Analyze the structure and function of matter ".
